History of the Retreats
The Retreats on White Iron Lake is a family-oriented vacation resort located minutes from downtown Ely, Minnesota at the doorstep of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.
The resort was operated as Outdoor Adventure Canoe Outfitting for more than 40 years. Before that it was the Forest Gate Resort. In 2007, it became the Retreats on White Iron Lake, a Common Interest Community developed by Kerry and Sandy Davis and Pete and Barb Barton.
The 12 deluxe cabins are family owned and rented to guests on a regular basis. The Retreats is governed by a cabin-owner board of directors. The property managers are Kerry and Sandy Davis, who have owned and operated White Iron Beach Resort on the adjacent property for more than 18 years.
The Retreats offers a unique opportunity to experience the North Woods in style with all the amenities of home and dining and shopping only minutes away.
